WHAT IS A KIDS CONSIGNMENT SALE?
Once in the Spring and once in the Fall, we hold a one-weekend only consignment sale where you can find thousands of new and gently-used kids items at a fraction of retail. The products at the sale come from hundreds of families who sign up to consign and actually earn money for the products that sell. Anyone is welcome to become a consignor and anyone is welcome to shop at the sale.
This sale is NOT a garage sale. All items are inspected upon check in to be sure that they are clean, without stains and in working order. All items are organized into a store-format so that it is easy to shop and find the sizes and types of products you are looking for.
WHO ARE WE?
Kristin Nelson, a stay-at-home mom of 2 boys, has been running the LA Kids Consignment sale for 6 years. Stacy Kupfer, a stay-at-home mom of 2 girls, is a Santa Clarita Valley resident and has been participating in the LA Kids Consignment sale since it was in Kristin’s driveway! Stacy and Kristin started SCV Kids in 2008.

Give 20 Minutes to Honor our Hero
Please Come Honor a Fallen Member of Our Community

The memorial service for a local soldier killed in Afghanistan has been scheduled for Saturday
March 13. 2010
Sgt. Ian Gelig, 25, of Stevenson Ranch, was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan on March 1 when his patrol unit was hit by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.
Gelig’s family has chosen to have a private service at Blessed Kateri Catholic Church. The family wishes to keep the church service private, however the community is invited to take part in the funeral procession from the church to Ian’s final resting place.
The procession starts at 1:15pm at Blessed Kateri Church and moves down Copperhill to McBean Parkway. It will then drive the length of McBean Parkway past I-5 and through Gelig’s home community of Stevenson Ranch to Pico Canyon Road. After making a left on Pico Canyon Road, the procession will enter the I-5 freeway at Lyons Avenue where it will continue to the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills.
“We are hoping the entire Santa Clarita Valley community will line the road to pay tribute to this fallen soldier who has given his life for his country,” said Councilman Bob Kellar.
The public is invited to attend the procession and the burial.
Gelig who was promoted to the rank of Sergeant posthumously, will receive full military funeral honors including a 21 gun salute, the playing of taps, and a flag folding presentation.
The Patriot Guard Riders, a motorcycle group that watches over funerals of fallen American service members, will also attend the procession and service.
Please take 20 minutes out of your Saturday to help us honor this hero of our community, Ian, who has given his life to protect our country. It is appropriate to bring an American flag along the procession route. Information provided by AM 1220 KHTS

World’s Best Toffee? YES!
World’s Best Toffee? YES!
This lilbirdie pecked open her first box of The World’s Best Toffee a few days ago! Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, and White Chocolate!
Not being much of a toffee fan, I wasn’t really sure if I was going to like it. Toffee tends to be too sticky for me. But, much to my delight, I found the World’s Best Toffee isn’t sticky at all. In fact, it was the most delicious toffee I have ever had, almost creamy! It came in a very simple brown box with a cream colored bow. It was elegant. The card inside told me that, because there was no artificial coloring or preservatives it was best to enjoy my toffee as soon as possible, witch in birdie talk means, “Eat every last bite until it is gone!” That is exactly what I did too.
I found myself rustling the plastic wrap a few times a day, and a few times, even right before going to bed – BAD BIRDIE. It was so good that I refused to share even the smallest of crumbs with my little peeps!
I was so fixed on my scrumptious handmade treat that I didn’t notice the second little card was in the box until I was down to my last little square. This card was different. It had no direction on how or why I had to eat all my toffee in one shot, it was a card that read “The Keaton Raphael Memorial” “A Beacon of HOPE for Children with Cancer”
It seems, that just because I decided to buy a box of World’s Best Toffee a $5 donation was made to the Memorial Fund. Right there, I decided that “World’s Best Toffee” had made it onto my Valentine’s Day, Mother’s day and Birthday wish lists. Not only that, but I will be sending some to my friends back east for their Birthdays. It is just plain yummy, it makes a great gift and who wouldn’t want to be a “Beacon of HOPE for Children with Cancer!”
World’s Best Toffee, alilbirdie.com will be chipping about you for a long time!
Place an order for yourself today, or think about a box the next time you need a Hostess gift. When you do order just make sure you tell them “alilbirdie.com” told you about them!
Bird in a Wig!
Sometimes you hear about something so wonderful you are compelled to share it with anyone who will lesson. I was chirping with a friend recently and learned about Wigs
on Wings. This powerful idea, and the wonder woman, Denise Van Arsdale-West, who’s launched it, can be found right here in our hometown. She has created a business that provides wigs for cancer patients but it doesn’t just stop there.
Wigs on Wings provides in-home private wig fitting for clients who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments. Allowing the client to try on and purchase wigs in the comfort of their own home. Denise understands the special needs of her clients who are going through challenging times. Wigs on Wings services do not stop at just fitting a wig. Denise has an extensive background in make-up application for television and film. She also offers a makeover that can enhance the look of your new wig.
Denise Van Arsdale-West understands the pain and grief that accompanies great loss. With the loss of her husband and the more recent loss of her sister to cancer, Denise has channeled that energy into her life’s work. She became a life Coach and founded Pick Up the Pieces Life Coaching and now has created Wigs on Wings. Denise is dedicated to helping women whose lives have been adversely impacted. She has lived it and now wants to help other cancer patients with their healing in order to live life with passion and purpose.
What an amazing and compassionate person, and what an amazing business. Like most birdies I know, I too am personally connected to someone touched by Cancer. If you know someone who could use this powerful service make sure you “chirp” about Wigs on Wings to them and tell them alilbirdie told you about it!
